Whakapapa trip details
This is a club trip. You’ll need to be a member to attend.
Long range forecast (at Monday 8pm, for Sat/Sun in Whakapapa)
The weather is looking ‘seasonal’.
Saturday and Sunday both look like they will be overcast and there is a 10-15% chance of rain. It’s an alpine environment so it won’t warm up much through the day, in fact the ‘feels like’ temperature will lower it a few degrees. It will be proper cold at night. Bring the right clothes!!!
Bring a rain jacket
Sleeping arrangements
We have been really lucky to secure two huts, across the road from each other. Tauranga Ski Club hut is fully booked for us, and the University of Auckland Ski Club has been rented on a per-bed basis. All the activities (communal dinner, gear checks etc) will take place in the Tauranga SC hut. We can be a bit flexible on the sleeping arrangements, but we can’t just spread over the two huts as this is not how we have paid for them. It would have upped the price to $30 per person per night to do this, and we chose not to. Those in the AUSC hut are welcome to use all the facilities.
I expect to get there with the access codes by 6ish. We’ve been asked not to share these publically. Sing out if you are going to be there prior and need the code.
